Info for Under 18s

Under 18s are able to experience the magic that is Swingamajig (but not the afterparty).  If you are bringing children to Swingamajig 2023 please take a moment to read through the info below and help us to keep everyone safe this year.

Ticket info:

Aged 0-4 - Free - no ticket required.

Aged 5-17 - Child ticket purchased in conjunction with an Adult ticket.

At the Swingamajig Botanical ball there is a good mix of live bands, cabaret, dance classes and DJs.

There will be some incidental entertainment round the site aimed at children such as face painting or balloon modelling but you won’t find anything specifically aimed at children in the main spaces.  This entertainment will be focused around early the early afternoon.  Please consider this in deciding which children to bring and if you plan to stay late.

Children will be welcome in all areas of the festival except the burlesque finale from 9pm on the cabaret stage.  During the day there will be no nudity and the show will be family safe, but there may be shows you deem not suitable for certain children.  Information on this will be in the program.

The Botanical Garden does have a children’s park by the lower lawn, but this will be closed from the early evening as there is not adequate lighting after dark.

We will be asking for an emergency contact name and number for all children on site of any age.  Ideally someone who is going to be present at the event as this is most likely to be used if we find a lost child.

Each child needs a dedicated guardian when entering the festival.  This person needs to be responsible, sober and in be position to safely look under the child/children in their care for the duration of the event.  Our door staff will reserve the right of refusal and we may ask you to leave the festival if you do not adequately look after your child/children during the event.

An older sibling or friend does not qualify as a suitable guardian, eg a 19 year old can not act as  guardian to their younger friends.  If you have any concerns about suitability or the procedure here please email festival@swingamajig.co.uk.

In the event of you losing a child or finding a lost child please come to the medical tent and we will assist from there.

Our staff will be under instruction to actively seek out and any stop any under age drinking that might take place - the law is incredibly strict on this and we will be too.  No matter what happens at home we have a zero tolerance policy of underage drinking/tasting/even holding of alcohol. If you buy alcohol on behalf of a minor you will be ejected and risk prosecution from the police so please be careful of any minors in you  your care.
